# Auto-hiding comments

Auto-hide lets Clarify hide the worst comments for you, the moment they're found, so a slur or a spam link isn't sitting on your Page waiting for someone to get to it. It's **off by default** and built around one principle: everything it does is reversible. Nothing is ever deleted, and every auto-hidden comment is one click from being put back.

## Turning it on

Auto-hide is set up in [Settings > Alerts](https://clarify.net.au/settings/alerts), in the **Auto-hide comments** card. Tick the categories you want hidden automatically:

- Threat
- Bullying / harassment
- Slur / abuse
- Misinformation
- Spam / bot

Leave them all unticked (the default) and nothing is ever hidden without you. Most teams start with **Slur / abuse** and **Spam / bot**, the clearest-cut cases, and watch the queue for a week before adding more. Changing these is a workspace-wide setting and needs the **Edit settings** permission.

Only very confident matches are hidden. Clarify uses a higher bar (90% and above) for auto-hide than it does for alerts, precisely because it's acting without you in the room. A borderline comment is left for a human; it isn't auto-hidden.

## The Auto-hidden queue

Everything auto-hide touches lands in the [Auto-hidden queue](https://clarify.net.au/auto-hidden). There's a link in the sidebar with a badge showing how many are waiting for review. Open it and you'll see each hidden comment with its category, the AI's reasoning, and which post it was on.

For each comment you have two choices:

- **Un-hide** puts the comment back on your Page and removes it from the queue. Use this when Clarify got it wrong.
- **Keep hidden** confirms the comment should stay hidden. It moves to the **Confirmed** filter so you know it's been looked at.

You can also tick several at once and use **Keep selected hidden** to clear a batch in one go. Filter between **Awaiting review**, **Confirmed**, and **All** at the top.

## What "hidden" means

Auto-hide uses Facebook's normal hide, the same as hiding a comment yourself. The comment is removed from public view but not deleted: it stays on the platform (so it's preserved as evidence) and is still visible to the person who wrote it and their friends. See [Hiding comments and bulk actions](https://clarify.net.au/help/hiding-comments-and-bulk-actions) for the full detail on how Facebook handles this.

## Good to know

- **Threats still need you.** Even with Threat ticked, a genuine threat is always surfaced for human review in the [Threat Log](https://clarify.net.au/threats) as well, so auto-hide never quietly buries something that might need to go to police.
- **It runs on every scan**, including comments that arrive on older posts later, so you don't need to do anything to keep it working.
- **Turning a category off** stops new comments being hidden, but anything already hidden stays hidden until you un-hide it from the queue.
- Auto-hide is available on every plan.
